There is no question that we are living in challenging times. In
addition to the current conflicts in Iraq, Afghanistan, Africa and
the Middle East, we are facing one of the most serious economic crises
since the great depression. I do not think there are too many people
in our country who are not affected financially in one way or another.
Since my early years in medical school in 1978 until now, I have
observed, spoken with, read about and treated thousands of people with
a wide variety of conditions. Some of these folks had medical diagnoses
that were easy to treat, such as hypothyroidism, however, others were
very serious and often fatal, such as cancer.
