Phyllis Preciado was raised in East San Jose as the eldest daughter of a large Mexican-American family, and dreamed of becoming a medical doctor. Her parents had not graduated from high school and did not have the financial or academic background to support her career development in medicine. She was, however, able to attend a nursing program at a local community college and become a Registered Nurse. Her dream of becoming a doctor did not die, and after many years and overcoming numerous obstacles, Phyllis Preciado is now Doctor Preciado. She is a Family Practice physician at Castle Family Health Center in Atwater and she serves as a mentor and a voice for the Central Valley Latino community. |
