TCOYD TV: Taking Control of Your Diabetes Original Air Date - 8.21.2008 Taking Control of Your Diabetes series television wraps up its second season with an inspirational piece on TCOYD’s educational philosophy. Psychologist and TCOYD conference faculty member Joseph Nelson will talk to Dr. Edelman about the importance of equipping people with diabetes with the information and empowerment they need to control their condition. The experts acknowledge feelings of failure and shame frequenlty brought on by the daily challenges of the disease, and exacerbated by seemingly unsympathetic medical professionals. Interviews with TCOYD attendees, and TCOYD CME attendees reveal the impact that live educational conferences have on diabetes self-management, attitudes of medical providers toward their patients, and the gap TCOYD aims to bridge in doctor-patient respect, trust and communication.
