Don't miss this fantastic conference designed specifically for Native Americans in Oklahoma City On Saturday, November 13th, TCOYD will host our special Native American conference for people with diabetes in Oklahoma City at the Cox Convention Center. The one-of-a-kind program will feature the nation’s top Native American physicians, diabetes educators and specialists and opportunities to speak one-on-one with healthcare professionals. Special guests and renowned healthcare professionals include Steve Edelman, MD, Founder and Director of TCOYD; Darryl Tonemah, PhD, of the Native Health Group; and Kelly Acton, MD, MPH, FACP of Indian Health Services. In addition, there will be hands-on physical activities for everyone, motivational speakers, free health screenings and more. Among the many informational sessions available to attendees are “Rez Robics” with fitness expert Pam Belgarde; “Lifestyle: Is It More Than Just Diet and Exercise?” With Michael Bryer-Ash, MD and “The Effect of Historical Grief; Trauma on Native American Health” with Ann Bullock, MD and much more. In addition, a healthy buffet-style lunch is included in registration and will feature motivational speaker, comedian and diabetes advocate, Drew Lacapa presenting “Laughter is the Best Medicine.” A health fair will also be available with more than 30 different exhibits will be held in tandem with the conference. Here, attendees can find out about the latest technologies, treatments and devices from the industry’s leading medical companies and organizations. SPACE IS LIMITED; pre-registration is recommended.
