Following the Raleigh TCOYD program on May 2nd, TCOYD and DiabetesSisters encourage conference attendees to join us for a meet and greet from 5 to 6 p.m. All women with diabetes and their families are encouraged to attend this Celebration of Women with Diabetes event.Guest speaker Bianca Jacobs will share her inspirational story of living as a woman with diabetes in today’s world - juggling career, family time, and preparing for figure bodybuilding competitions while also managing her diabetes. Refreshments will be served and there will be an opportunity for women with diabetes to socialize with other women in the local area who have diabetes. “We are excited to team up with TCOYD. DiabetesSisters and TCOYD recognize that women with diabetes face unique challenges in their diabetes management. The Meet and Greet event makes the most of women’s inherent need to connect with others who are like them,” said Brandy Barnes, Founder and Executive Director of DiabetesSisters. “The TCOYD conference is not only informative and motivational, it is a great venue for people with diabetes to find support by connecting with others.” TCOYD’s 8th conference in Raleigh is a full day event beginning at 8 a.m., and is for all men and women with diabetes, their loved ones, and those at risk. It will feature lectures by leading specialists about practical advice and developments in the treatment of diabetes, the complications of the disease, psychological barriers to controlling diabetes, prevention, nutritional issues, heart disease, dental health and much more. The Taking Control of Your Diabetes conference is a collaborative effort of health professionals from major institutions and clinics including the University of North Carolina Health Care, Duke University Medicine, and Raleigh Endocrine Associates. The American Diabetes Association and North Carolina Diabetes Prevention and Control, among many other agencies and organizations, have partnered with TCOYD to present this event. 2,000 participants are expected at this one-of-a-kind event. To register or get more information, call 800-998-2693 or visit http://www.tcoyd.org. DiabetesSisters will also be an exhibitor at the conference.
