Diabetes is a growing epidemic in our nation, costing more than 75,000 lives and $174 billion annually. More than 1 out of every 17 San Diego County residents has already been diagnosed with diabetes – translating to over 172,000 people county-wide.
Being well-aware of the severe consequences that poorly managed, untreated or undiagnosed diabetes can have on individuals, families, health systems and the community as a whole, the San Diego Diabetes Coalition (SDDC) first met in May of 2004 to form a partnership of public and private organizations capable of sharing the resources needed to care for all people with diabetes in San Diego county. Today, our membership has grown to include more than 100 San Diego nurses, physicians, health professionals, health providers, policy makers, businesses, and community organizations.
Our Mission
It is the San Diego Diabetes Coalition’s mission to improve the health and well-being of all San Diego county residents at-risk for or living with diabetes by facilitating high-quality diabetes care that includes education and prevention.
