  1. Kristen is my Husbands Niece and I remember when she was diagnosed and how devastating it was. I’m so proud of her for how brave she was to undertake the transplant journey and for sharing her experience. She is not the only one in the family with Type 1 diabetes anymore since our Granddaughter was diagnosed at age 4. She is now 21. I hope and believe that this podcast will help others who are struggling with this terrible disease. Thank you for having her on your podcast.

    • Thanks for your comment, Mary! Kristen is amazing, and will no doubt help others by sharing her story. 🙂

  2. Did Kirsten get a fistcula or catheter? Did Kristen have kidney dialysis at anytime during her wait for a transplant or after surgery?

    • She never had to go on dialysis and went straight to transplantation, so she never had a fistula or catheter. Hang in there.

  3. Kristen is such and inspiration! Thanks to her for sharing her story and thanks to TCOYD for letting us hear it.

  4. As a 20 y.o. double organ transplant (pancreas and kidney) both still functioning close to baseline, I wish Kristen as long a survival of the organs. If you take care of them, they will take care of you.

    • Wow! Thank you for sharing your personal experience and encouragement! It will give hope to others considering the procedure as well.
