Participate in the EDGE Study to Help Researchers Empower People with T1D to Exercise Safely and Manage Unpredictable Blood Sugars
The Jaeb Center for Health Research is looking for individuals to contribute to advancing safe exercise strategies for type 1 diabetes.
Physical activity is essential for a healthy lifestyle, but for the Type 1 community, it often comes with major frustration. Many find themselves intentionally running high to avoid a “crash,” or dealing with surprise lows hours after a workout. This study aims to replace guesswork with data and explore if specialized, data-backed education on insulin adjustments and carbohydrate timing can help you improve your time-in-range and avoid highs and lows during exercise.
Study Overview:
- 100% Remote participation: No clinic visits, no commutes, and no time off work required
- Designed for busy adults to participate from the comfort of home
- Review structured educational guidance on exercise and T1D
- Share data from your CGM, activity tracker, and insulin devices
- Incentives: Participants receive a physical activity tracker (yours to keep after the study) and all educational materials at no cost
- Compensation provided for completing questionnaires and sharing data
Eligibility Requirements:
- Diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes for more than 1 year
- Currently active (at least 30 minutes of exercise twice a week)
- Use a Dexcom or Medtronic CGM
- (Note: Abbott Libre users are not eligible at this time)
- Use an insulin pump or MDI (most commercially available pumps and closed-loop systems are eligible)
- Willing to review educational materials and share device data
*Multiple Daily Injections users are especially encouraged to apply*
