Conversations with Your Doctor Can Be Tough— But You Can Make Them Easier

Think back to your first doctor’s visit after being diagnosed with type 1 diabetes—the questions on your mind and the uncertainty about how to ask them. Finding the confidence to speak up takes time. That’s why we’ve teamed up with expert endocrinologist Dr. Manasi Jaiman and content creator Mary Comeau, who has spent 17 years living with type 1 and built a following of more than 1 million people by sharing her experience. Together they unpack the conversations that count—sex, alcohol and other drugs, safe driving, and dealing with overbearing parents—so you can start strong and stay in control as a young adult with type 1 diabetes.

We had a lot of fun creating these videos–See behind the scenes!

EP 79: Teens! Managing Diabetes Through the Rebellious Years

with Diabetes Influencer Mary Comeau and Pediatric Endocrinologist Dr. Manasi Jaiman

Conversations about diabetes and health can be awkward—especially when you’re a teenager trying to figure it all out. In this episode, Dr. Steve Edelman welcomes diabetes influencer Mary Comeau and pediatric endocrinologist Dr. Manasi Jaiman to break down the real issues young people with type 1 diabetes face when navigating adolescence, independence, and taboo topics like sex, alcohol, marijuana, driving, and overbearing parents. With personal stories, practical advice, and some laughs along the way, this episode is all about helping young adults with T1D build confidence, advocate for themselves, and feel less alone.

There’s Something About Mary! This Young T1D Influencer Went from Trying Teen Years to TikTok Fame and 1 Million Followers!

Mary Comeau has only been sharing her life with T1D online for a few years, but her bare-bones, shoot-from-the-hip, vulnerable depictions of life with diabetes quickly touched a chord with the diabetes community around the world. Together we’re launching a new video series just for T1D teens.
