About: Ian Paterson

Dr. Ian Gavin Paterson, MA (Cantab), MB BS (London), FRCA, MAcadMEd Dr. Paterson studied medicine at Cambridge University, England (where he won an entrance scholarship to Trinity College) and at King’s College Hospital, London. He trained as a specialist in Anaesthesia and was appointed as a Consultant Anaesthetist and Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer in the Medical School at the University of Sheffield in 1997. He is a fellow of the Royal College of Anaesthetists and a member of the Academy of Medical Educators. He developed type 1 diabetes in 2011 and is a strong advocate for the combination of CGM, exercise, a whole food plant-based diet, and education to achieve good diabetes self-management. He lives with his wife (who is also a physician) and two dogs on the outskirts of the Peak District National Park. He enjoys country walking, photography, cooking and watching entertaining TCOYD videos.
