I am a Dietitian and Diabetes Educator and I want to congratulate the two of you on doing a great job educating the individuals with Diabetes
Thanks Peggy, appreciate it! Thanks for your work helping people with diabetes as well.
Thank you guys once again. Dr. E., your food plan and mine are very similar. Once I finally found the low carb bread, it was great. I Rarely look at calories, though, just carbs. Looking forward to seeing you guys in August at the ONE Conference!
Thanks Molly!
This week I was diagnosed with type two diabetes. I am 78 years old. My doctor told me just to go on American diabetic association and get the information myself didn’t give me any handouts. I know nothing about diabetes. Where can I get help? I especially need help with menus because he wanted to put me on metformin and I told him absolutely not. Please help.
We have a ton of videos on managing type 2 diabetes on our website, as well as podcasts. You might want to start with this video here which goes over a lot of basic info: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5LdoV3u-Or4
You can find more videos here:
https://tcoyd.org/vv-t2d/
You can find our podcast episodes here and look for the topics you would like to learn about first:

You might want to try to connect with a certified diabetes care and education specialist who can provide individual attention, which you can find more about here:

If you are on Medicare, they should cover it. Medicare should also cover seeing a nutritionist. If you want to speak to someone virtually, you could try reaching out to Diabetes Digital here:

Or reach out to Integrated Diabetes Services here:

You may also want to consider getting a continuous glucose monitor, which measures how your blood sugar reacts to certain foods and activity. You can learn more about them here:

if your blood sugars are really quite high (staying above 200 for a few weeks), it might be a good idea not to wait to start a medicine.
Hello! I love your content. I’m really trying to take control of my diabetes this year. This video was very helpful but I was wondering if you have a recommendation on for how many carbs a day and per meal you should have? And also for calories. I’m a type 2 diabetic currently managing my diabetes with Jardiance, diet, and exercise with a goal to lower my A1C and lose weight. I’m about 32 pounds overweight. Thank you!
Hello and thanks for your comment. It is hard to tell you an exact amount. I would try to figure out how many carbs and calories you are eating now, and try to reduce that by 10 to 20%. If you are 32 pounds overweight, I would suggest Ozempic or Mounjaro, which will change your life.
