TCOYD Champions: Nicole Piccetti & Family

Dom Piccetti lived with an incorrect type 2 diabetes for over a year, and his family had to fight for a type 1 diagnosis, insulin and medical supplies. They finally found a care team at UCSD, and extra support from TCOYD.

LADA (Latent Autoimmune Diabetes in Adults) is the most missed diagnosis in diabetes. It’s often initially diagnosed as type 2 because the loss of pancreatic beta cells is much slower than the more “traditional” form of type 1.
